More of "Cecily" and "Darcy"....

Are you ready for a few more photos of "Cecily" & "Darcy"? After visiting with "Mr. & Mrs Duck" Abby asked to go visit her beloved horses so we went over to one of our favorite secret spots to see if the horses were in their paddock and indeed they were. Abby instantly hopped up on the fence and started calling for them as they were way on the other side of their meadow. Within a few seconds of her calling to them they both started trotting over to see her and she was just over-the-moon! "See mom, they remember me!" We visited with "Milk Chocolate" & "Dark Chocolate" (as she dubbed them) for quite a while and Abby had fun feeding them bunches of clover, but she insisted that next time we bring something special for them like apples or carrots. This child absolutely loves animals and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if she chose a career someday having to do with them. She has no fear whatsoever, and is ready to get right in there and do whatever needs to be done and she is not the least bit squeamish about anything. She would make an amazing vet especially with larger animals.

and Yes, my child is a total "goofball". One of the questions I get asked a lot is how do I manage to get so many great photos of Abby and is she always so poised.....the answer is NO! I have tons and tons of awful pictures and after every photo shoot I have to sift through all of them to pick out the best ones. Yesterday alone I took about 700 photos, and I have to say we got a LOT of really awesome pictures and it was tricky narrowing them down. But yesterday Abby was in a great mood, the weather was perfect and we were both having fun and laughing a lot. I think one of the keys to getting great pictures is really making it fun for kids and knowing when and how to get the best shots.

"Cecily" & "Darcy"

 Yes, yes...they are almost done!!! Just a few more little touches to add to these 2 new patterns and they will be done. I have been waiting and waiting for a picture perfect day to get some new photos so I can make a new cover for "Darcy". Yes, can you believe it..I actually made a pattern for the skirt. I received soooo many requests for it I just couldn't say no. "Darcy" is my version of the ever popular twirly skirt, and yes, mine is quite different from others because I use my hand pleating technique in this one as well.
Anyway, Today was the day...Abby and I couldn't wait out get out and enjoy this PERFECT Spring day and as you will see over the next few posts I took a ton of photos because Williamsburg in the Spring is just so pretty! So...without further ado here are some photos of Abby modeling "Cecily" and "Darcy" with just a basic simple little white T-shirt that was purchased at Target. As you can see it makes for a darn cute Spring/Summer outfit!

C c c c c Cold!!!!

I just realized I haven't posted any photos of Abby in any of my creations in a while. I have been sewing a lot, but most of what I have made is all Spring/Summer and with the temps being pretty darn cold here I  just couldn't torture Abby without at least a little something to keep her warm. So, this morning I set out to make something that was a little more suited to the chilly temps. This outfit is made up of layers and layers of cuteness. A long sleeved T, "Bridget" in pink batiste, "Cecily" in Lily & Will, an adorable hooded vest made up from chocolate pinwale cord all lined in Moda's snuggle in cream, and "Isabelle" made up in Lily & Will. Also, in a few photos Abby is wearing a cute little crocheted cap that I made for her out of yummy chocolate brown chenille yarn with a pink satin bow laced through it and then tied in a bow.

I have to say...It was freezing outside and Abby was NOT happy with me at all. In fact most of the photos I shot are of her glaring at me and of her saying "Mom...I'm freezing!"and of her goofy toothless grin...can you believe she lost another tooth yesterday!?  Don't worry, we didn't stay out for too long. In fact we were back in the car and all toasty within 10 minutes or so and on the way home Abby requested a milkshake so she must have not been that cold if she wanted a frozen drink.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these...even with Abby sporting a red nose!

Thank You Sweetwater!

Do you remember the other day when I posted pictures of Abby wearing the outfit I made out of that gorgeous fabric collection from Sweetwater called "Pure"??? Well, guess who is currently on their blog!?
That's right...Abby, is really busy these days showing up in all kinds of wonderful places. Okay, I can take credit for the cute clothes and the really cute kid, but I simply cannot take credit for this gorgeous fabric. Have you seen this collection?

It's just gorgeous, and currently one of my favorites in my stash. I really love the colors, the simplicity and fact that this fabric is not too over the top like so many prints that are out there right now. Now that Abby is growing up she is wanting more "grown-up" looking fabrics that are not too novelty looking. Gone are the days of pink kitties, sparkly ponies and gigantic ladybugs. Trust me, I am not too sad about this, I personally found it a challenge to create cute things for her with those fabrics that didn't look like costumes, but now that her tastes are maturing I am loving experimenting with colors other than pink and lavender and this collection offers so many fun choices that have endless possibilities. One of the prints in the collection is a really fun argyle and I have been busy plotting what to do with it...I have some really fun ideas and I can't wait to give them a whirl. Thanks again to Sweetwater for creating such a gorgeous collection. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

" Purely" Abby!

I cannot tell you how much fun I had creating with the latest fabric collection from Sweetwater called "Pure". I just fell in love with the rich chocolate browns, cappuccinos, blues and cream and as soon as it arrived I couldn't wait to start "playing" with it. I created a "Cecily" pinafore, a double layer skirt trimmed out with vintage cream crocheted lace and then made Abby an adorable little hooded vest from some chocolate baby wale cord and then lined it with Moda's snuggle in cream. I had so much fun making this little vest I decided to make try something new by rolling all the edges and then hand sewing them to give the appearance of kind of a faux sherpa look...not sure if it looks very much like sherpa, but I really like the way it turned out and Abby fell in love with it!

5 Easy Pieces

I received the most gorgeous fabric from Terri the other day called McKenzie from FreeSpirit! I just swooned when I saw the fabulous prints and colors and was instantly inspired to make all kinds of separates that could mix and match together..kinda like my version of Granimals...remember those??? I started off with my "Isabelle skirt" (which will be out soon) then made a gorgeous little peasant style top  my way with pretty puffed sleeves and a beautiful satin bow that ties in the back. Then my latest creation "Cecily" which is so stinkin cute...and so versatile. It's a sweet little pinafore top with ties on the sides...LOVE it!!! That pattern will also be coming soon! Then Abby needed a fun little pair of pants that could mix with these pieces so I whipped up a pair of fun little trousers....finally one of my favorites...a little swing top made from a gorgeous large print which really showcases the design. I also plan on making a black feather wale corduroy bubble skirt and "Brooke" to go with all these cute pieces and maybe a few more as well. I really love that these all look so cute together. After I took these pictures this afternoon and I was going through them I couldn't help but think "Oh my goodness...she is really growing up. Where is my little girl?" BTW...she gave all of these pieces a big two thumbs up and said "Mommy, I really love these...they are Funky!"
