Spring!

This afternoon my dear friend Tiffeni and I went walking in Colonial Williamsburg taking in all the hidden gardens and hide-a-ways far off the beaten path and away from all the tourists. We had so much fun and I got to hear more fun stories about CW. It's so nice having my own personal guide and get to hear all the stories that are not on the "paid tour". The flowers were beautiful, but we were still a bit early and it is not quite at it's peek yet. So we will have to go back in a few weeks when everything is in full bloom. I did however manage to get a few really nice photos. So here is something to really get you in the mood for Spring!

Guess Who???

okay, lets see who can figure out who I was thinking of when I created this outfit.....

OMG...Abby and I had a magical afternoon. We went to Colonial Williamsburg for our photoshoot and had the best time together. I told her we were going to a secret garden hidden away and she was completely enchanted. She had so much fun discovering hidden hideaways and pretty little gardens. Afterwards we walked into town and went to the old fashioned candy shop where she picked out a big red lollipop!!! You should have seen her face. I actually should have taken a picture because it was priceless. Everyone was completely enchanted by her today and she was the subject of many people's photos and videos and she loved every minute of it. Anyway, have you figured it out yet???

Riverwalk

The weather was absolutely perfect today. Mid 60's, sunny and a beautiful breeze. It felt just like spring, hard to believe it's only December. Anyway it was much to nice to stay inside so I called Tiffeni and we grabbed our cameras and headed down to the river for a relaxing stroll on the beach. I got some amazing shots. Too many to post, but here are just a few of my favorites.

Williamsburg in Winter

Today my dear friend Tiffeni and I went to Colonial Williamsburg for a walking tour. Tiffeni used to work there, so she took me on a tour of some of the secret special places and hidden gardens within CW. During our walk I fell in love with wells, benches, gates, and many other unexpected treasures we stumbled upon. Tiffeni shared stories with me of secret colonial love affairs and pointed out which of the historic buildings were haunted. Going off the beaten path and staying away from all the more touristy areas proved to be extremely enjoyable and I felt badly for the others who were missing out on these beautiful hidden places and great stories that are not shared with the tourists. Sadly the weather turned against us and we had to pack it in for today, but I cannot wait to go back for part 2 of this adventure. Here are just a few of my favorite shots from today.

A Little Trip To The Beach

Hard to believe it's the 1st of November and the weather is warm enough for shorts. I decided to break in my new camera by taking the three oldest to the beach for a little photo shoot. What a perfect day! All the trees are changing, yet it was still warm enough for the kids to stick their toes in the water and play in the sand. I took tons of pictures, but I am still getting used to my new SLR and I have a lot to learn, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! We had so much fun. Sadly, Henry didn't come along. He has a miserable cold so he stayed at home and napped with Papi. Probably a "good thing" in more ways than one. I am sure he would have been in the water and I would have had to dive in to go get him. After wards the kids and I went for an ice cream and then back home. It's been a perfect day.

A Trip To The Pumpkin Patch

With Halloween just a few days away we made our annual trek to the Pumpkin Patch this afternoon. "Pumpkinville" is a local tradition and a big treat for the kids. Everything from witches and goblins to kettle corn and candy apples. The kids carefully inspected all the pumpkins and then each of them picked their favorite. We also picked out a very special one just for Henry...who was at home with Papi taking his nap.

But the absolute highlight of the adventure was the hayride! Who knew a rickety old wooden wagon filled with scratchy hay and a grumpy old man driving a rusty blue tractor could be such a thrill. Tons of moms, dads, grandma's and grandpa's all holding their stomachs and counting the minutes for the ride to end and a ton of little kids, giggling, screaming, laughing and begging for more. At the end of the ride I could hear lots of little voices begging to do it again...mine were a part of that chorus. Thankfully there was a long line of more people anxiously awaiting their 10 minute thrill so I managed to convince the kids that we could do it again next year...phew! The kids skipped to the car and were still chatting about all the spooky things they saw on our hayride and how much fun they had. Success!

A Trip To The Lego Store

Oliver's 9th Birthday is just two days away, I can hardly believe my little baby is going to be 9!!! Next year it's double digits. No big surprise Oliver's Birthday wish was to go to the Lego store and pick out his birthday gifts. We have been hearing about which Lego sets he was going to choose for weeks and now he is as happy as a clam. Lego has recently come out of with an entire new series called "Agents". It's very high-tech and similar to James Bond. Oliver is in absolute heaven.
