Mini Olabelhe and Asking Your Opinion. . .

Here's The Original "Amelia"

So, it was bound to happen at some point and this morning I decided to mess around with one of my own designs and shrink it down to doll size. My first attempt at this turned out pretty stinkin' cute. I chose my "Amelia's Dress" pattern and set to work. I even had a small piece of the exact same fabric that I used to make the original one for Abby a few years ago. Of course I had to make the little bloomers to go underneath as well. Thanks to Nellie for modeling for me this morning. I have still been exploring the idea of doing doll patterns. Over the years I have received a lot of requests to have my designs in doll size so that you could make matching dolly and me dresses for your little girls. Well, I am listening. This was so much fun to make so I am thinking it might be a great idea after all. I want to play around with a few more of my designs to see how they turn out when they are sized down.

So, I want to ask you. . . in all seriousness. . .

Would you like to see Olabelhe Doll Patterns????

Let me know what you think. Are you happy with the selection the doll patterns that are currently available both by major manufacturers and independent designers or would you like more? Are you mostly interested in my Olabelhe designs made into doll patterns or would you like to see more historically accurate designs for your dolls from different eras, or both? I would love some feedback here. Hearing from you will certainly help me make a decision on whether or not to venture down this new path or not. Please share your thoughts by leaving me a comment.

Personally, I think it's a great idea! How many little girls love to have their dolls match them? I would go for it!!

I love the idea of matching dresses but for me it would depend on how expensive the doll pattern was. I hate to say that bc I know that a lot of work goes into putting together but when I can get Liberty Jane patterns for about $4.00 I'd have a hard time paying $9.00 for them here. Again its not that I don't love the idea or think you are hugely talented bc I do but I wanted to also give you my honest opinion.

My 30 year old daughter got Kirsten for her 7th birthday. I made her matching outfits for her and Kirsten for the next 4 years. We just bought a Madame Alexander play doll for our granddaughter. I made her her first matching outfits. I found it hard to find patterns when I started to look that I wanted to make for Rowen. I would love for you to make copies of your dress designs. I remember how much my daughter loved to be dressed like Kirsten. I want to be able to do that for Rowen. I do agree with Stephanie though. I can't pay the same price for one of these patterns as I do for one of the regular ones. Plus this would only be one size. I appreciate your talent, I really do. I just can't go into debt to make matching outfits.

I like the idea of doll patterns. I'm just afraid you'll quit designing Great, Age Appropriate, Fun, Modern patterns for adolescent girls. That's what drew me to follow your blog & patterns. To see what was next. I understand your need to be relevant. To invent the next best thing to keep your company profitable. I'd just like to leave you with an old saying: Dance with those that Brung ya.

I mean, who can forget your great Steampunk dress, or Olivia, or all the other great designs you've done. I'd just hate to lose out to doll clothes.

I love when patterns come with the doll size as part of the range of patterns. I think that is a great option. Pdf patterns are too pricey, imo, to buy just for dolls. There are so many great paper patterns for a buck or two. So, unless it is included with the girl pattern, I would not buy. But it is a great idea to include it!

Yes, yes and yes. I have been drooling over your doll clothes for days. I personally would prefer your patterns over what is already out there as the fit is better and the style is cuter. I'd like to see both the historical and mini me patterns. I would be happy to pay whatever you charge for them because I think they are worth it . My daughter is getting Caroline for her birthday in June so I'd love to see some dolly designs from you by then.

I would love to have matching patterns. I made several doll dresses for my grandaughters last Christmas and they loved them and I used many of your existing patterns (I just shrunk them down made a few nips and tucks and Wha la) my girls loved them. I think I sent you a note and encouraged you to sell them last year. I wonder if you have a matching doll pattern instruction for a few $$ more with each pattern purchase? Hmmmm lots to think about. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

I think the doll patterns are a great idea--hopefully you would offer them as a pkg deal with the dress pattern or a stand alone price and I agree I would not like to pay $9 for a doll pattern no matter how much I love your designs

I too would love the doll dresses but could not afford a great deal for them. Your ideas are wonderful and we have been tweaking existing patterns to try to get them to look like my daughter's Olabelhe dresses!

I would love for you to do doll patterns! The one's you have made are awesome! I love the patterns you make for little girls and I would love to be able to dress my dolls in them. The doll clothes you have made already are prettier than the ones out there. I would certainly buy them!

I just purchased a child's dress pattern and a pattern for a matching doll dress came with it. I am sooo eager to make these for my granddaughter! My granddaughter is going to be sooo thrilled when she gets her new dress AND a matching dress for her doll. So...obviously, I think it's a grand idea!

I would definitely buy a precious doll dress pattern from you! And I've read several comments that say $9 is too much to pay for a pattern--but I've tried a few of those expensive doll dress patterns, and they have generally been far superior to the standard patterns. So my vote is to add a few doll dresses!
