I want to thank everyone who was so kind and posted wonderful comments about my sewing room. Evidently, my sewing space caused quite the stir the other day when I posted the photos of it and various forums were just buzzing about it. 99% of the comments were absolutely wonderful but there had to be a few haters who...shall we just say... were not very nice.
Anyway, several people commented and also emailed me about my cutting table. Actually, I borrowed the idea from Patty Young who has an amazing sewing space and I loved what she did so I decided to do the same thing.
Yes, It's made from two Expedit bookcases from Ikea that are laying on their sides and butted together to create the perfect cutting table. Patty even took it to the next level and made a little tabletop to place on top of hers to raise it up a little more and to store pattern pieces underneath...super Clever!!!!
Having a separate cutting area is so much nicer and I am loving it! I also received comments and questions about the little drawer units that house a lot of my "stuff". Those are also from Ikea, but we bought those a long time ago and I just repurposed them. The ribbon holder was purchased at Michaels (using a 50% off coupon) and as for the jars which hold my buttons those are just recycled spaghetti sauce jars and the huge Mason jars which I keep some of my ribbon in also came from Michaels. Most everything in my space is stuff that we had and it found a new home and purpose in here. I wanted to make this space pretty and inviting because it's the first room you see when you come into the house. There are no doors so I can't just close them to hide the mess so staying organized is really important!
