The Best Day Ever....

Here she is still in the box...it was love at first sight!!!!

And here she is out of the box...isn't she pretty???!!!
not a mark on her...absolutely mint condition.

What a day!!! This morning I woke up wanting to go on an antiquing excursion so I called up my friend/partner in crime when it comes to awesome treasure hunting and we headed up to this place she had been telling me about for ages. It was this kinda hole in the wall, unassuming gold mine! you know one of those places where the people who work their often don't know when they have a real treasure...I LOVE THOSE PLACES!!!! First off we visited Whitings Paper an absolute treasure trove of anything and everything paper. Vintage catalogues, magazines, books, post cards, you name it if it's paper John had it. I looked through old catalogues and magazines circa 1920's and found inspiration galore. After spending quite a lot of time there we decided to check out the rest of the place to see what goodies we could find.....in and out of little rooms filled with the coolest stuff we saw all kinds of things that made us laugh and also made us swoon. Then it happened.......I walked into this room and sitting on a chair was a black box, and honest to goodness my heart skipped a beat. I stopped dead in my tracks and my eyes must have gotten huge. My friends said "What is it?" I said if it is what I think it is I have just died and gone to heaven. I slowly opened the box and indeed it was exactly what I thought it was and it looked to be in perfect condition...a Singer Featherweight... I have wanted one of these for years and I finally stumbled upon one in perfect condition and for and absolute steal. I took it out of the box and inspected it and it had all the pieces, power cord, bobbin case, bobbin, etc. it even came with a rusty old can of vintage oil...how funny is that. Then for the ultimate test...did it work? I found an outlet set it up on the floor, flipped the switch and the light came on. Then for the ultimate test...I pressed on the foot pedal and it just purrrrred like a kitten......SOLD!!!!! I was so excited I was actually shaking and the elderly lady that worked their said..."I've never seen anyone react quite like that about anything in here before...you must really love it!" she couldn't have been more right! This little gem will be well loved and cared for and will have a very special place in my sewing room!

Here are a few more pictures from our trip...sorry the pics aren't the greatest I snapped them with my iPhone.

Check out this sewing machine.....can you imagine????

Loved the hats and hat stands!!!
