How Cool Is This!!!!

I was featured on Fairytale Frocks & Lollipops!!!! Thanks so much to Terri and her daughters for their amazing shop! If you haven't been over to see her you really must go! They have the most amazing selection of designer patterns I have ever seen! Plus...their fabrics are just beautiful!!!!
Thanks so much ladies for featuring me!!!

Things are really happening here at "Olabelhe"! Pattern sales have been amazing and I am just gushing with ideas. Can you believe in less than a year since I started this little adventure I have already published 11 patterns!? Wow...and there are more to come. Thanks again to all of you who are making it all possible. I would have never believed it last year when I started this, that a simple idea could turn into something so fantastic. I am having the time of my life designing and creating.

I am truly blessed to be living my dream. Caring for my family and our home, homeschooling my children and having them here with me all the time. Having the most wonderful family and friends and now fulfilling my dream to be a designer!!! It doesn't get much better than this!

Fariytale Frocks and Lollipops
is THRILLED to be working with
Dawn Hansen, Owner of OLABELHE!!!
Dawn has selected us to be the first, exclusive shop to feature her beautiful creations!
She is one of our friends that we think you would love to get to know!
Dawn is a stay-at-home mother of four. She is a very talented independent children's clothing and pattern designer. She homeschools her children, bakes cookies, changes diapers, and carpools - all while squeezing in time for her own passion. Her passion began as a child and her four beautiful children have given her the drive and desire to do what she loves in her "spare" time... CREATE!
Her earliest memories are of the time she spent with her mother and grandmother as she watched them sew. As a little girl, her closet was bursting with hand-made creations. Her mother and grandmother would always have the "perfect" dress to adorn Dawn in as they went to the city for tea and luncheons.
Today, Dawn sees that spark in her daughter's eye, Abby - who is 6 years old. Content with playing with scraps of fabric, a tape measure, spools of thread... you name it - Abby is always right by her side. It would be a great pleasure to see Abby follow in the steps of her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dawn is truly passing on the art of sewing and teaching the value of passion and creativity to each of her children.
The name Olabelhe... Just what does that stand for?
A long time ago, Dawn made the decision to start a blog and a small business. Being a unique and creative woman - she wanted something that had a meaning that other's would remember. With her inspiration being each love of her life... her children... Olabelhe was chosen to "reflect" them.
Olabelhe was derived from the first 2 letters of each of her 4 children:
OLiver, ABby, ELliott and HEnry
It absolutely works!
Today, Dawn is constantly creating dress designs. Her children are her models, her husband is her biggest fan, and Fairytale Frocks and Lollipops is honored to feature her work - making it available directly to YOU! She pairs her patterns with our fabric selection so that you can SEE just how beautifully we work together!

Pass The Passion... Tips for Newbies

Sewing, sewing, sewing...
Some may consider it a "lost art", some may be intimidated by it, some may not have the confidence to even think about it, some may not have had a family member to shadow, and some... want to (or have always wanted to) learn - but just do not know where to begin.
Beginning in this issue -
we are going to try to take the "fear" out of the desire...
and insert knowledge in its place!
We will feature a "tip" for the Newbies - or those just curious about how to begin.
Along with a tip (or tips) from the Fairytale Frocks and Lollipops Team each issue - we highly encourage our expert sewers to send in your secret tips that you believe would impact someone just beginning the journey of creativity.
Simply send your handy ideas,
funny stories, and life-saving tid-bits to Krista:
(Type the word "TIP" into the subject line)
We will review them and pass them along
as our pages turn in the next few months!
We are sure to hear some funny stories of sewing gone bad - we know that is the BEST way to learn, and who knows... we may submit a tip that could benefit even the most experienced sewer!
After all... knowledge is useless unless it is shared!
Let's pass along lessons we have learned over time
Keep sewing going!
We believe NOW is the time to...
PASS THE PASSION!!!
March / April Tip:
If you are someone who is in the market for purchasing
your very first sewing machine...
it is time to get out the phone book!
Look for your LOCAL sewing machine dealer!!!
WHY???
Best of all - and the REAL DEAL
They will reecommend a sewing machine for your skill level and possibly hold Free Sewing Lessons upon purchase from their store. You can not get this service ffrom the internet!
This is extremely helpful when learning about your machines functions and also simple sewing techniques. You will learn the valuable "stepping stones" to get started, not to mention meeting up with other's who share the same desire to create.
Check out what is available in your area!
You never know what may be offered - for free!

Very cool! I just mentioned you in my blog too. I made a New look pattern that is very classic but wished I had had one of your patterns! So I sent my readers to check you out! I love the new Sabrina dress!

I mean Natalie! I like the new Natalie! The Sabrina looks cute too, I just have not had a chance to read about it and see the other views to make an educated statement. Golly I am tired from all this sewing!
