Good Old Fashioned Wholesome Fun & A Give-A-Way!

Little Orley Stories CD

I'm sure many of you are like me in that you are really particular about what you want your children/grand-babies to be exposed to these days. With so many images and ideas that are not child friendly everywhere, it's very, very challenging to find good ole' fashioned wholesome things for our children to play with and enjoy. I have made a huge effort to try to limit the amount of "junk" my kids are exposed to and have worked really hard to create an environment which encourages childhood.  The time that they have to be children is so short and it's such a pity that most things nowadays forces them to grow up too fast, in my opinion. The other day my friend Scott over at Red Hen Toys sent me a little surprise package with a few goodies in it to "test out" with my crew. One of the treasures in the box was a Little Orley CD. To be honest, I had never heard of Little Orley before, as it was popular before I was even born. These stories were broadcast on the radio before television became popular  and they are just adorable! The stories are told by Uncle Lumpy who is actually Fred Waring or as many of us remember him as Mr. Green Jeans on Captain Kangaroo. Now that I remember watching when I was really little. Anyway, Abby and Henry were anxious to give these a try as was I and I have to say they were very sweet. We sat at the table in our playroom drawing and coloring and listened to the stories and the kids were completely captivated, as was I. It was heavenly to have these sweet and wholesome stories to listen to as we played and the kids were truly captivated. I spoke to Scott and he wants to offer one lucky person one of these enchanting story CD's to share with their family. All you have to do is leave a comment on my blog to enter to win. We will pick a random number on Wednesday and announce the winner here.

Here's a link to go to the Little Orley website
where you can listen to a sample to see if you like it or not?

By the way, If you have never visited Scott's shop, Red Hen Books and Toys I would highly recommend that you pop over and see all the fun, and interesting offerings he has in his shop. If you are looking for something truly unique and special for your kids to explore Scott has lots of items that promote creativity and are also educational.

Hmmm...it's not to early to start thinking about Christmas. I know, I have already started making lists and picking up things here and there to put under the tree this year.

Congrats lucky number 7! DB please email me so that I can get your information and get your prize out to you! I will be hosting another give-a-way next week for Red Hen Toys and wait till you see what that one is! So much fun. My kids and I have been having so much fun with this ingenious toy! Come back and see what it is. This would be an awesome gift for any child who loves creativity!

I would LOVE to win. I soooooooooooo agree with you. Children are not given the opportunity to be children, to learn to think for themselves and play. Thanks for the link to help keep childhood alive.
