A Little More Heirloom

I spent the better part of yesterday playing around with some more ideas. Using one of my patterns and "tweeking" it a bit and adding a few special touches here and there. I used up more of my delicious Swiss dot from Terri and also some amazing powder blue sateen to line the entire dress and use for the under skirt. Sam warned me that once I start using some "real" fabrics I will become a fabric snob and now I see what she means. This stuff is to die for and is spectacular to sew with. I also went digging in my vintage laces and trims and found a bunch of stuff that I could use. I haven't had a chance to go up to Chadwick Heirlooms yet, so I am just using what I have before I start buying all kinds of new stuff. I am honestly I afraid of what kind of damage I could do in an heirloom shop. Maybe I should bring cash instead of my cc....just to be on the safe side. Anyway, here is my latest attempt at my new found passion. I realize this is all pretty minor in the big scheme of things. I need to start using a lot more specialty techniques like pin-tucks, hand embroidery, etc.etc. but I am loving getting my feet wet. I am planning to join SAGA and go to my first meeting sometime soon and lucky me the SAGA convention is going to be right down the road from me in Norfolk, VA this Fall. So you bet I will be there with bells on. Hopefully, I will get to meet a lot of amazingly talented heirloom sewers take a few classes, learn some new techniques and bring home a bunch of yummy stuff.

I also want to thank all the wonderful people who stopped by and commented on my little nightgown. I was so excited to hear from so many heirloom sewers. You are all such an inspiration. Thank you all for your encouragement!!!

One of the the things I've liked in your work is the texture and colors that you use with a simple line in your styles. Sophisticated, elegant, and cleanly shaped. A lot of impact without a lot of sewing time. Something I appreciate.

I'm excited to hear about your interest in using all those wonderful heirloom techniques. Those will add a bit more time to the construction process.

Another pretty one! What are the flowers on the bodice? I couldn't tell if they were part of the trim or you hand embroidered them? I think I'm going to SAGA Convention too!!! I hope I get a chance to meet you!

Wavin' at you. I will be at convention. Sign ups are tomorrow. Can't wait! You will love Chadwicks... and yes it will lead to being a fabric snob. I love Swiss Pique... probably my favorite fabric to work and design with. :-) Have fun!
