You've Got Mail

In an attempt to get my homeschoolers to enjoy writing some more I came up with what I think is a pretty clever idea. We are using our playstand as a Post Office. This morning the kids and I each made up mailboxes to hang on our doors so that we can send messages to each other. Clever, clever!!! The kids had so much fun decorating their mailboxes and then we came up with funny addresses for everyone. For Example: Elliott lives at 7 Brick Drive, Legotown. Abby is at 5 Princess Lane, Castleview and Henry lives at 3 Gummi Street in Troubletown. Their "house numbers" are actually their ages and streets and towns reflect them. I bought a bunch of blank envelopes, stickers(stamps) and misc other goodies at the $ store for them to play with and this morning I made them a "Snail Mail" bag for them to deliver letters and packages. We have been having a blast all morning and they indeed have been anxious to do more writing!

You guys are the best! I really think it's fabulous that you want to share my ideas with your kiddos. You'll have to let me know if it's a big success.
