The Start Of Spring Sewing

This year I am making an effort to actually make some simple play clothes for Abby to wear. Which for me is very difficult. I am far from practical when I start playing with fabric and my machines. She requested some skirts so I came up with this design which is just a simple pull on skirt, but I wanted to jazz it up a little with cute little sash that that ties in the front in a big bow. Abby fell in love with them. Especially the one I made with my precious HR goldfish. I took a deep breath before I cut into it but I am very pleased with the results. Oh, BTW I'm not sure how well you can see it in the pictures but I actually made a cute tag out of the selvedge which has the name of the fabric line on it and Heather's name along with the dye dots. It's the entire length of the top layer and I really love how it looks. Especially because this is one of those treasured fabrics that holds a special place in my heart. Blah, blah blah...I am getting all mushy over fabric. Thanks so much for taking a peek!

The fishy one is my fave! Where'd you get the knit top - it's perfect along with those darling orange cons.

Thanks ladies! I also made another one out of this really sweet Dick and Jane fabric. I will have to post pictures of that one later on.

April,
Don't ya just love the orange sneakers!? I knew they would be perfect with the HR goldfish! As for the little knit top I think I found it at Target last year.

Ok I gotta know... do you have the totally cute matchy shoes on hand? or do you give yourself an excuse to go shopping after the outfit is complete? hehe!

WHAT A DUNCE! I KNOW the fabric is fish! My kid was talking bird cages at the time and well, that's what I wrote! DUH! ;)

That's alright Sharon...my mind is totally fried after 4 little ones most days.

April, about the shoes...honestly it's a little bit of both. Abby is a shoe fanatic so each season she gets tons of new shoes from both myself and grandma. My mom loves to spoil her, (she's the only grand-daughter)anyway Abby always has tons of shoes. However, there are times when we scramble for something to match.
