Yesterday we went a little nutty and we took the kids to go pecan picking. We all bundled up and headed out to visit Mr. Smith at his beautiful pecan orchard and he taught us all about pecans. We used clever tools to pick them up and we used our hands as well. So much fun! It was a bit chilly at first so we were happy that we bundled up but after a while it warmed up a bit and we were able to peel off our winter coats and just wear sweatshirts. After a few hours we had gathered about 40 lbs. of nuts and we all agreed that we probably had enough. We found a cozy spot and enjoyed some hot cider and homemade cookies and then said goodbye to Mr. Smith. Now, to get all these nuts shelled and start searching for some delicious recipes. If you have any you'd like to share I would love to give them a try!

I changed it a little to suit us - a little more butter in the crust, (like shortbread), and 1 cup of chocolate chips, (if anyone in your house likes chocolate! gggg).
We also have a great pecan pie recipe here -

As many of the reviewers suggested I added 1T of vanilla and 1T of flour. Oh.MY.Goodness!
Both of these recipes are fantastic, and oh sew decadent. :)
Enjoy!
