While The Cat's Away....

....the mom will go a little crazy doing home improvement projects! That's right, I went a little nutty this weekend painting, replacing cabinet hardware, and moving furniture. When we moved into this house 4 years ago I was a little stumped what to do with this kitchen it's very long and most of it is completely open to our family room which has 20' ceiling which really limits painting options. So, I just settled for a very light, like as in barely noticeable pale, pale wheat color which in all honesty was very boring and uninspiring and it's bugged me for years. So...this weekend I decided to go a little crazy and I painted it the most gorgeous shade of chocolate brown and I just love it. From the first brush stroke it was love at first sight and I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning painting because I was so excited I just couldn't stop. When we were at Home Depot picking out the color I also wandered over to the hardware isle and picked out all new hardware for the cabinets...Wow..those little things add up quick, especially when you have to buy about 40 of the things! I finished up with my painting late this morning and then from there I decided to completely rearrange furniture in our house, as in moving a small sofa up 17 stairs and moving the furniture from our living room which wasn't getting used into the family room and I absolutely love it! Now to just replace that hideous light fixture with two gorgeous pendant lamps and add a few other little touches here and there and I have a whole new kitchen and family room. Isn't it amazing what a can of paint can do to change the feel of a room and your mood. I just really hope Ole likes it. I've made so many changes around the house in the past two weeks he's not going to recognize it when he comes home in a few more days....Hmmmmm, I wonder what I can do tomorrow!
